“On behalf of Bluewater Movements and the IGFA Junior Angler Program, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation for the tackle boxes and rods you donated to the little anglers in our 2007 Teach and Reach Fishing Clinics. The Kids Clinics were a tremendous success! We had the opportunity to bring a number of children into our clinics and teach them everything from knot-tying to lessons in sportsmanship and conservation. The rods and tackle boxes definitely came in handy for the kids, as they were able to enjoy a free day of fishing aboard a local drift fishing boat just for participating. They had a great time catching bonito, kingfish, amberjack and more! It was a great experience for them and for us as well.”Jamie Bunn, Bluewater Movements, Inc.
“From all of us here at the FWC’s Youth Fishing Program, thank you for your support. Because of the Fish Florida grant, we continue to teach children the art of angling and the importance of conservation. I am proud to report, as of June 29th (2007), 81 clinics have been onducted with over 2000 children participating.”Mike Lesso, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission volunteer
Thank you so much for taking care of our grant so quickly. I can’t begin to tell you how excited the girls as well as their parents were about the rods and reels. I have heard lots of fishing stories!!”Rebecca, Girls, Inc. of Bay County
The 4-H kids loved the rods and reels and the tackle boxes! The equipment caught several spadefish, mangrove snappers, and even a couple of juvenile goliath groupers. The two-day program was quite successful and the donation of the fishing equipment from Fish Florida made it possible. During the two days, the children learned to tie three different knots, learned appropriate casting techniques, had a wading trip of the Harbor to understand the importance of the estuary and it’s relationship to fishing, had a lively discussion on some fishing ethics, and above all caught fish. Please express to your board my sincere appreciation for the equipment. This is a fabulous program and one that I hope Charlotte County and CCA will be able to participate in again.”Donna Worthley, Coastal Conservation Association
